Workforce Development VISTA
Erin Phillips joined ACEnet in June 2016 to begin her OHIO CDC AmeriCorps VISTA term. Ms. Phillips’ goal is to find solutions to the unemployment and underemployment issues facing low income individuals in impoverished areas of rural Appalachia Ohio through the Appalachian Workforce Development Project. Her research primarily focuses on women in poverty and prison work release individuals. She hopes that her research, data collection, and push toward community partnerships will help others become self-sufficient through economic independence.
Ms. Phillips holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Ohio University and has also obtained a Certificate in War and Peace Studies.
Born in Athens and living here currently with her cat Roxy, she strives to give back to the community that got her where she is today.
